Mani Ratnam’s next film to be shot in sync sound with A.R.Rahman’s music

Filmmaker Mani Ratnam will once again shoot his upcoming Tamil revenge drama in sync sound. The name of the film though has not been decided yet.

Ratnam has used this technology earlier also for Ok Kanmani.

An inside report from the film’s unit told IANS, “Impressed with the sound output in Ok Kanmani, Ratnam sir has decided to shoot his next film also in sync sound.”

‘Sync sound’ allows filmmakers to record sound during the filming of the movie and is mostly done live on locations.

Confirming the news, Mani Ratnam told the news agency, “I thoroughly enjoyed shooting the film in sync sound. It breathes life into a film, especially with artists who speak the language in which you’re making the film. The experience was so good that I’m thinking of making more films in sync sound.”

The film will be starring Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan against each other.

As the film will be shot in sync sound, Ratnam is very particular that his actors speak fluent Tamil. The report added, “One of the reasons why he chose Keerthy Suresh is because she’s very fluent in Tamil. He’s on the lookout for the second heroine.”

While cinematographer Ravi Varman will shoot for this untitled film, A. R. Rahman is reported to have agreed to compose the music.

Bollywood movies such as Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai and Rock On were shot using sync sound.
