Mahira Khan earns plaudits for ‘swag’ after she shuts up troll on Ranbir Kapoor

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who appeared in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees earlier this year, became a topic of intense social media discussion on Wednesday after she shut up a troll.

Mahira had taken to Twitter to congratulate Pakistani cricketer Mohamamd Hafeez, who had announced his retirement from Test cricket. In her post for Hafeez, she wrote, “Mubarak on a great innings and thank You!! I’m so glad I got to watch you play live. Love to you and the family.”

Responding to her tweet, one troll asked if she was out of work after her photos with Ranbir Kapoor went viral. He wrote, “Lgta hai koi khaas kaam nahin mil rha jab say ranveer kapoor waali pictures out hueen (It seems you are not getting much work after your photos with Ranveer (sic) Kapoor became public).”

Far from being fazed by the trolling, Mahira decided to correct the Twitter user’s factual inaccuracy as she wrote, “Ranbir*.”

Her reply to the troll in question evoked plenty of plaudits from her fans, who hailed her for her ‘swag’ in dealing with online trolling. One user wrote, “Swag.” Another commented, “Love it Mahira…just love your spirit!”

Last year, a photo of Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan had intensified rumours with many speculating if the two were dating each other. In the photo, both Ranbir and Mahira were seen smoking outside their hotel in New York. Many social media users, particularly from Pakistan were quick to troll Mahira for wearing revealing clothes and smoking a cigarette.

Some reports had said that the photos were clicked during Ranbir’s visit to New York to shoot the biopic on Sanjay Dutt, while Mahira was there for some work. The viral photo had emerged soon after they were in the news because of a video that showed Mahira was seen ‘pleading with Ranbir’.
