Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker has been facing brutal social media roasting after she protested against food delivery app Zomato’s decision to advertise on Arnab Goswami’s Republic TV. The famous actor was accused of hypocrisy since she has chosen to remain silent on Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to fund Republic TV with taxpayers’ money running in crores of rupees.

Swara began to face criticism after she took to Twitter to write, “Hey @zomatoin @zomato @deepigoyal I’m your regular customer.. do u plan to #DefundTheHate & pull your ads from hate espousing channels like @Republic_Bharat? I’m not okay with my money even indirectly funding this kind of communal bigoted hate! Pls let your consumers know.”

While many hailed Swara for raising the important issue of businesses sponsoring hate by buying advertisement slots on Republic TV, others highlighted the glaring hypocrisy of the actor since she has never expressed her outrage against the Delhi’s AAP government headed by Kejriwal, who’s been one of the biggest advertisers on Arnab Goswami’s TV channels.

Meanwhile, Zomato has responded on Twitter to look into the allegations of funding hate. In its official statement on Twitter, Zomato said, “Hi there, please note, we don’t endorse any content except our own. That being said, we are looking into this.”
