India’s tennis sensation Sania Mirza on Tuesday gave birth to her first child and it’s a boy, as announced by the cricket world’s newest Dad Shoaib Malik.
Shoaib, ace Pakistani cricket all-rounder, is married to India’s tennis star, Sania Mirza. Taking to Twitter, Shoaib wrote, “Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled.” He ended his tweet with hashtag #BabyMirzaMalik.
His tweet went viral in no time with nearly 40,000 likes and more than 10,000 shares and comments.

Among those congratulating Shoaib on the arrival of a new member in his family were many current and past teammates from the Pakistani cricket team. Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi wrote, “Bohot bohot mubarak ho @realshoaibmalik and @MirzaSania . May Allah always keep you and your family happy and healthy Ameen .”
Fast bowler Aizaz Cheema wrote, “Bohat Mubarak ho Shoaib Bhai and @MirzaSania Bhabi all the best Wishes & Prayers.” Cricketer Umar Gul wrote, “Bohat bohat Mubarak Shoaib bhai and @MirzaSania.” Bilawal Bhatti tweeted, “Many many congratulations to you and @MirzaSania May Allah bless the little one with a long healthy life.ameen.”
As for the Indian celebrities, actor-director Farhan Akhtar was one of the first Bollywood stars to congratulate Sania and Shoaib. His Instagram post read, “Finally!! Best news in a long time!! Congratulations @mirzasaniar @realshoaibmalik @anammirzaaa @imranmirza58 n of course the nani n daadi ♥️god bless our lil angel.”
Filmmaker Shirish Kunder tweeted, “Congratulations, @MirzaSania and @realshoaibmalik on becoming proud parents! Born to two sporting legends from two different countries, #BabyMirzaMalik is symbolic in more ways than one.” Shrish is married one of Sania’s best friends and choreographer, Farah Khan.
Last month Shoaib Malik had revealed that his child will her first child will neither be Indian nor Pakistani.
