Chennai Super Kings on Friday defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets with 11 balls to spare in an IPL match, played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
Batting first, the side led by Virat Kohli made 156-6 in 20 overs with Devdutt Padikkal playing an impressive knock of 70 runs. He took just 50 balls with his knock including five fours and three sixes. Skipper Kohli made 53 but the rest of the Bangalore batsmen failed to shine with the bat.
Dwayne Bravo picked up three wickets for the CSK, while Shardul Thakur scalped two wickets. Deepak Chahar had to contend with just one wicket.
The CSK had no trouble in chasing the total as Ruturaj Gaikwad (38) and Faf du Plessis (31) added 71 in 8.2 overs for the opening wicket. Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu chipped in with 23 and 32 respectively. Suresh Raina (17) and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (11) completed the task by achieving the target with 1.5 overs to spare.
With 14 points in nine matches, the CSK currently enjoy the top position in the table. Delhi Capitals too have same number of points after nine games, but they are placed at number two in the table due to relatively poor net run rate.
