India on Sunday defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in an important Asia Cup encounter to nearly cement its place in the final. The match, played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, saw two Indian batsmen score brilliant centuries to secure India’s win.
Captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored 111 not out and 114 respectively. Their magnificent innings made the Pakistani total of 237 look like a mediocre target for the Indians, which won the game with 10.3 overs to spare.
For Pakistan, Shoaib Malik was the star as he score 78 off 90 balls. However, the spotlight fell on Malik during India’s innings because of comments made by some of the Indian fans. Malik, who is married to the Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza, was drawn to jiju chants by some of the Indian fans.
In the video, posted on social media, a group of fans are heard shouting at Malik, who is fielding at the boundary, “jiju look here once.” Malik looks back and acknowledges the jiju chants, making his Indian fans incredibly happy.

The video has made social media users very happy. The fan, who posted the video, wrote, “Oh, that was nice..Jiju.” Another fan wrote, “Crazy Indians.” However, one Indian fan said she wasn’t with the term jiju being used for Malik. She wrote, “This ‘jiju’ term for Shoaib Malik feels a lil irritating to me.”
Malik’s wife, Sania Mirza, is expecting the couple’s first child. The couple was recently in news after it emerged that they will not give their child the nationality of either India or Pakistan.
Amidst the traditional India-Pakistan rivalry, this video has come as a useful tool to create atmosphere of love on social media.
