Dhadak’s second track ‘Zingaat’ was released amidst much fanfare on Wednesday. The craze around the song featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar is such that the track has already been viewed by more than one crore people on YouTube.
In the video, the two young actors are seen showcasing their dancing skills while effortlessly shaking a leg on the remake of the popular Marathi song. Within hours of the track’s release, movie fans began to compare it with the original song featuring in the hit Marathi film Sairat.
But, while the cinematography and choreography of Dhadak’s track easily comes across as better than of what we saw in Sairat, it’s the the newbies performances in other two ‘home videos’ of their rehearsal that appears to showcase their real dancing talent.
We all know that Shahid Kapoor, Ishaan’s actor brother, has been a phenomenal dancer before he even made his acting debut in Bollywood. Shahid was a key part of Shiamak Davar’s dance troup and had featured in Anil Kapoor-Aishwarya Rai starrer Taal, as a background dancer.
There’s also little doubt on Janhvi’s legendary dancing diva mother, Sridevi, who ruled bollywood as the industry’s number 1 actor for more than a decade. Other than her great acting skills, Sridevi also enjoyed the reputation of being the best dancer of her time.
Now, two videos that surfaced coinciding the release of the Zingaat track suggest that India has got its two new dance icons. In the first video, both Janhvi and Ishaan are seen rehearsing their dance routine for the track in a closed dance studio. Both dressed in funky attire look effortless while sharing a great deal of camaraderie in their dance performance. Their performance in what looks like a rehearsal is far better than what their fans got to see in the Zingaat track. (Watch the video and decide for yourself.)
The other video appears to have been shot in a FM radio studio, where both Ishaan and Janhvi recreate the Zingaat magic all over again and the effect is magical. While inside the FM studio, both are also joined by their director Shashank Khaitan.
The good thing is that both stars have their feet firmly grounded even amidst unprecedented public adulation. Ishaan told reporters, “I will not say that I have become a star before the release of the film but it feels nice when audience appreciate what they are seeing in the promos of the film. When people support us, our hope increases as they will go to watch the film in theatres.
“I really hope when audience watch the film, they realise that it is a sincere adaptation and it’s a unique film in its own way. We have been really honest while making this film and we have sacrificed our blood, sweat and tears while making it. So, I hope our efforts will connect with the audience.”
‘Dhadak’ is a romantic drama film directed by Shashank Khaitan, produced by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios and stars Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles.
The film is a remake of the 2016 Marathi language film ‘Sairat’. It is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2018.
