Deepak Chahar and Moeen Ali on Friday evening guided Chennai Super Kings to a comfortable 8-wicket win against Punjab Kings as Shahrukh Khan’s lone battle with the bat turned futile.

Batting first, Punjab Kings could only score 106-8 in their quota of 20 overs. All Punjab batsmen except Shahrukh Khan failed to shine in the face of a devastating spell from Deepak Chahar., who finished with an impressive figure of 4-13 in four overs.  Shahrukh made 47 in 36 balls and was unlucky to not complete his maiden IPL fifty.

Chennai Super Kings had little difficulty in chasing the total as Moeen Ali single-handedly took his side to the winning mark. The English all-rounder, who was bought for Rs. 7 crore in this year’s auctions, scored 46 in 31 balls.

The CSK suffered a mini batting collapse in the 15th over when Mohammed Shami dismissed Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu with two successive balls. But, this was too little too late for Punjab.

Chennai Super Kings achieved the target with 26 balls to spare.
