In a stunning revelation, it has emerged that the Chicago shooter, identified as Robert E. Crimo III, had disguised himself as a woman after allegedly killing six people and leaving more than 24 injured during the Independence Day Parade in Highland Park in Illinois. Among those killed are victims from the age of eight to 85.
Police say that Crimo, who fled the scene after the carnage, had disguised himself as a woman to hide his facial tattoos, in a bid to blend in as he escaped the scene. He then walked to his mother’s home, who lived in the vicinity before driving her vehicle.
Meanwhile, Facebook and Instagram have removed his accounts after the Highland Park Police revealed his identity and the FBI was brought in to investigate the mass shooting. Google has also removed his YouTube channel.
“Following the horrific incident in Highland Park, our Trust and Safety teams identified and quickly removed violative content, in accordance with our Community Guidelines,” YouTube said in a statement.
Crimo had a verified Spotify account, which he used to promote his albums and EPs. He also used a nickname, Bobby, on Spotify account, which too has now been removed. Spotify, according to CNN, said in a statement, “Spotify, in partnership with the distributor, has removed the content in question.”
Among his music released earlier this year included Brainwashed and songs titled Dead Again and I Am the Storm. According to the UK’s iNews website, his video Toy Soldier features a stick-figure animation of a man firing a gun at people and later lying in a pool of blood after apparently being shot by police.
It is believed that Crimo shot his victims at the 4 July parade from a rooftop. The police had first said that he was 22 years of age, but the FBI’s latest bulletin said that he was 21.
