A WhatsApp message on the attire of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan linking it to the after-effect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation plan has gone viral.
The dress in question is the former Miss World’s saree, which was once worn by her mom-in-law, Jaya Bachchan.
The red saree worn by them is being termed as an effect of demonetisation, which according to the WhatsApp message has forced the two prominent members of the Bollywood’s first family to share their ‘saree.’
Jaya Bachchan was first spotted wearing this saree at an awards show in 2010. In 2011, bahu Aishwarya was clicked wearing the same saree. And three years later in 2014, the mother-in-law Jaya was once again seen wearing the same saree.
The subject had gained attention from the social media users in September last year, but it has returned to dominate the conversation on WhatsApp in light of the note ban impact.
Modi had announce the note ban on 8 November making 86% of currency in circulation illegal with less than four hours notice. His decision caused endless hardships to millions across India, who struggled to get hold of their hard-earned money.
More than 100 people have already died due to demonetisation related stress.
