The war of words between Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and the Union Territory’s Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi intensified on Sunday after the latter ordered the local administration to act against their own CM for alleged traffic rule violations.
Sharing photos of Narayanasamy’s motorbike ride during an election campaign where the chief minister was seen without a helmet, Bedi wrote, “Brazen violation of MV Act and directions of both Honorable Madras High Court & Supreme Court. Rule of Law prevails. DGP Puducherry, Balaji Srivastava, IPS, issues directions for legal action against the defaulters.”

Bedi did not stop here. One of her follow-up tweets on the same topic read, “The CM of Puducherry has been obstructing the law and also violating the law. Its caused several fatal and injury accidents because of this. It’s time the judiciary holds such obstructionists to account.”

In another social media post, the controversial Puducherry LG issued an extraordinary warning to Narayanasamy that he will be made to pay this time. “This time Mr CM you and your accomplices shall pay the penalty for making a mockery of the law. And Directions of the Honbl Supreme Court and the Madras High Court. Enough is enough. You have been obstructing them from carrying out their duties. No More.”

Unperturbed by Bedi’s meltdown on social media, Narayanasamy tweeted a photo of her enjoying a motorbike ride without wearing a helmet in the past. Narayanasamy wrote, “Practice before you preach…”

Bedi, who faced a humiliating defeat as a BJP candidate in the 2015 Delhi assembly polls, has previously been accused of obstructing the administrative works in Puducherry’s Congress-led government.
