After hiding their relationship for over 10 years, Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap to tie knot in December


In what’s going to be star-studded wedding of two of India’s most successful badminton players, Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal will marry Parupalli Kashyap in December this year, claim media reports.

A report by Times of India said that the two stars will tie the know in a function scheduled to held on 16 December. While the reception is expected to be held on 21 December. Both Saina and Parupalli have been training with Pullela Gopichand, himself a former badminton legend. In fact, it was during their training with Gopichand, when the two fell in love in 2005.

“Both families had been planning the wedding for a while now. Now they have finalised the date. The arrangements are all for December 16,” said a Times of India report.

Around 100 close guests are expected to attend their wedding, added the ToI report.

Both Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap are based in Hyderabad and have reportedly been in a steady relationship for over a decade. However, both never confirmed or denied their relationship status. While 28-year-old Saina has won 20 career titles including a Olympic Bronze medal and a Silver medal at the World Championship, 32-year-old Parupalli also reached a World number 6 ranking before his career being impacted by a series of injuries. He had also won a Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The only time Saina publicly mentioned Parupalli was earlier this year, when she spoken about the role played by him in motivating her after she won the Gold medal at Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
