Bharti Airtel and Idea hike data usage charge by upto 40 percent for postpaid users

You may not have data work properly on your phones and call drop may have become an integral part of your mobile phone conversation experience, but this hasn’t deterred the mobile phone operators such as Airtel and Idea from hiking their data charge for users by 20 percent.

Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have decided to hike data charges for postpaid customers by 20 percent in various circles, including the national capital region of Delhi.

Cities and religions where Airtel has hiked data tariffs include Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP East and UP West circles, while  Idea Cellular has done the same in Delhi, Punjab and UP West.

Postpaid users, who paid Rs 250 for the use of 1 GB 3G data in the plan, will now have to pay Rs 300 for the same. this is hike of 40 percent in the existing rates.

Vodafone, however, has not raised data charges in the postpaid category and continues to offer 1GB 3G data for Rs 250.

Airtel, Idea and Vodafone had hiked their rates for pre-paid data tariffs for 2G and 3G services in Delhi by up to 47 percent in June after the spectrum auctions were held in March, when operators acquired airwaves worth Rs 101,000 crore.
