Pakistan’s humiliating defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India in the ongoing cricket World Cup has continued to dominated conversations on social media. The latest topic related to the defeat evoking strong reactions from Pakistan is Babar Azam asking for Virat Kohli’s shirt after the defeat. Former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram has reacted angrily to Azam’s decision to ask for a shirt from a player of a rival team.
Speaking on a Pakistani TV channel after the match, Akram said, “Today was not the day to do this(to ask for the shirt). If your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt, then you should have taken it after the match in the dressing room.”
Akram was referring to the visuals of Kohli bringing his shirt to give it to Azam during the match. Though someone suggested that Kohli may have asked for Azam’s shirt, but he was corrected by another panellist saying that it was the Indian player, who was offering his shirts.

Both Azam and Kohli have mutual admiration for each other. Azam is regarded as one of the top batters to emulate the successes of Kohli in international cricket.

Batting first, the Pakistani team had suffered a spectacular batting collapse on Saturday before being bowled out for 191. India had achieved the target by losing just three wickets and more than 19 overs to spare. Azam was the top scorer with a knock of 50 runs.
However, after Mohammed Siraj bowled him out, this led to a collapse for Pakistan. This defeat meant that India have now beaten Pakistan in the World Cup on all eight occasions.
