Pop sensation Justin Bieber has revealed how he was drawing strength from his religious beliefs to stay strong in the wake of the diagnosis of his facial paralysis. The singer took to social media to say that Jesus was with him during his tough moments.
Bieber said, “Wanted to share a little bit of how I’ve been feeling. Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me.
“I’m reminded he knows all of me. He know the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and he constantly welcomes me into his loving arms.”
Bieber had announced last week that he had been diagnosed with what’s known as Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which has left half of his face paralyzed.
In a video message, Bieber had said that syndrome attacked the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, leaving half of his face to be paralyzed. The 28-year-old singer had added that the eye on his affected side wasn’t able to blink and was also preventing him from smiling from that side.
The singing sensation has taken to Instagram to write, “This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I’m facing. I know this storm will pass but in the meantime JESUS IS WITH ME.”
Can Bieber’s Symptom Ever Be Cured?
According to the British healthcare system, the NHS, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by a virus in the facial nerve. This is a more severe cause of facial paralysis.
Its symptoms primarily include blisters in the ears, on the roof of the mouth and it causes facial weakness.
According to medical experts, the syndrome can be treated with steroids, antiviral medication and facial rehabilitation.
But the bad news for Bieber and his fans are that the NHS says only less than half of patients recover completely.
However, the good news for Bieber and his fans are that experts say that 70% of patients recover fully if antiviral treatment is administered within 72 hours of developing symptoms.
