The Indian cricket team on Wednesday named Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the country’s One Day International team. This means that Virat Kohli would only lead India in the Test format in the future.
The BCCI made the announcement while releasing the list of players for the upcoming South Africa tour.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward,” the BCCI tweeted.
Sharma had earlier replaced Kohli as the captain of the T20 International team. India had thrashed New Zealand 3-0 in the first series played under Sharma’s captaincy recently.
