Twitter on Sunday exploded after it emerged that Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was also among those eight people reportedly detained for questioning in a drug case. This was after the Narcotics Control Bureau raided a Goa-bound cruise and detained eight people including Aryan Khan for questioning. While some Twitter users targeted Shah Rukh Khan for poor upbringing, others drew a parallel with Neeraj Chopra, who recently became the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic Gold medal in javelin.
Here’s how netizens reacted;
Be like as a Neeraj chopra not #AryanKhan pic.twitter.com/aQs8uPQFIZ

You want to be Neeraj Chopra at the age of 23, who won Olympic gold for the country and illuminate the country's name in the whole world or Aryan Khan who misused his freedom. #DrugsParty It is for you to think who to support in future #NeerajGoldChopra or #AryanKhan pic.twitter.com/kcdkCkVyRw

Some internet users also highlighted the Indian media’s hypocrisy over the blanket coverage to the questioning of Aryan Khan but complete silence on the discovery of 3,000 kgs of drugs from Gautam Adani’s port in Mundra recently. The seized drugs from Adani’s port were valued at Rs. 21,000 crore in the international market.
Meanwhile, actor Sunil Shetty has thrown his weight behind Aryan Khan by asking media to leave him alone. He told reporters on Sunday, “When a raid is conducted at a place, many people are taken into custody. We assume that a particular boy must have consumed it (drugs). The process is on. Let’s give that child a breather. Let real reports come out.”
According to reports, the NCB officials have not yet pressed any charges against Shah Rukh Khan’s son, but his mobile phone has reportedly been confiscated for examination.
Two NCB officials had reportedly boarded the Goa-bound ship disguising as passengers. They decided to carry out the raid after it became clear that banned substances were being used on the cruise. The NCB officials have reportedly recovered Ecstasy, Cocaine, MD (Mephedrone) and Charas.
The latest development comes days after the NCB arrested the brother of actor Arjun Rampal’s partner Gabriella in a drug case. Agisilaos Demetriades was also arrested from Goa.
The NCB had also arrested Rhea Chakraborty in the past in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who ended his life by suicide last year.
