Spain defeated Switzerland in Euro 2020 on penalties even after the latter was reduced to 10 men in the 77th minute of the match.
Spain had taken the lead in the 8th minute, thank to an own goal by Denis Zakaria. However, Switzerland levelled the score in the 68th minute as Xherdan Shaqiri made no mistake in netting home.
The match went into the extra time but Spain failed to take advantage despite the Swiss being reduced to 10 men.
The match was decided on penalties in the end with three Swiss players missing to hit the target. They included Ruben Vargas, Manuel Akanji and Fabian Schär.
In contrast, two Spanish players namely Sergio Busquets and Rodri missed to convert their penalties. In the end, Spain defeated Switzerland on 1-1 (1-3 on penalties).
Spain will now face Belgium or Italy at Wembley stadium in London on Tuesday for a place in the final.
