Republic TV has announced that its founder Arnab Goswami would return to TV on Monday after his mysterious absence continued to trigger speculations. Republic TV, however, has not explained why Arnab was away from his own TV channels for more than 50 days.
Sharing an old video of Arnab walking with a full security cover, Republic TV tweeted, “Dear Viewers, #Arnab has really missed you. Let the countdown to #Arnab LIVE at 9pm on Monday begin! He can’t wait to be back being with you. #ArnabIsBack.”
Its subsequent tweet read, “ARNAB IS BACK! He’s with YOU LIVE at 9pm on Monday, 21st June 2021. #ArnabIsBack.”

The videos shared by Republic TV appear to be shot when the anchor was being released from jail in Navi Mumbai where he was locked for a week in an abetment to suicide case.

Arnab was last seen presenting his primetime debate show in late April. He had made a brief appearance on Republic TV during the counting of votes for the assembly polls in five states including West Bengal on 2 May. The controversial anchor had faced criticism for making a hasty exit after the BJP failed to win the elections in Bengal as predicted by Indian TV channels including Republic TV. Mamata Banerjee had gone on to win a historic third term by securing a landslide.
Arnab’s supporters have been speculating over his prolonged leave with some even commenting on his health. However, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit had recently said that there was no health scare to Arnab and he was taking a short break from TV.
