Navjot Gulati has slammed fellow writer Kanika Dhillon for dragging his sister and family after the former tweeted to criticise the OTT platform, Netflix, for its questionable credit system. A visibly upset Navjot asked Kanika to ‘get well soon.
Navjot wrote, “Thanks for dragging my sister and family into it, who had nothing to do with what I had said. I thought I was stupid, rest everyone here is so smart, woke, and kind. #GetWellSoonKanika.”
Navjot also issued a full statement to clarify his stand after Kanika accused him of being misogynist and sexist. The Ginny Weds Sunny writer wrote, “Today an esteemed Writer from the fraternity has called me a misogynist, sexist and what not. And wished i get brain fever. And then dragged my family into an issue which has been turned into a person brain fever. And then dragged my family into an issue which has been turned into a person PR-War.”
Slamming Navjot for his original tweet, Kanika had said the former displayed the mentality of those who sit at paan shops and pass comments on women. She was quoted by Times of India as saying, “He has shown the mindset of men who sit at paan s`hops and pass comments on women. If a woman makes progress in her life, such men spit their paan and attribute her success to her husband or father. Hope that sisters of such people make a headway in their lives and nobody speaks ill of their achievements).”

The writer had not named anyone, but Kanika began to spit fire interpreting the social media post as being a direct attack on herself. She wrote, “Hi @Navjotalive I am quite shocked by ur extremely SEXIST – MYSOGINIST and bordering on IDIOTIC comment Neither will I list down my body of work cos ur pea sized brain will not be able to process a successful woman making it on her own! U may hav a brain freeze! Have a good day.”
She didn’t stop here as she continued, “And mr @Navjotalive because of writers like YOU – who display their STUPIDITY on something tht should be Applauded as a welcome step by the writing fraternity- other very deserving writers do not get top Billing as is their right—- shame on u!”

She is married to Himanshu Sharma, a long-time creative partner of filmmaker Aanand L Rai. Kanika is the writer of Haseen Dillruba, produced by Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions. Navjot’s tweet may have been prompted by the release of the Haseen Dillruba on Netflix, which gave credits to its Kanika as the writer.
Meanwhile, Kanika is receiving support from Haseen Dillruba actor Taapsee Pannu and others. She’s been frantically sharing news articles and tweets favouring her stand against Navjot.
