Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has issued a public apology after he was seen resorting to extraordinary behaviour during a Dhaka Premier League match on Friday. What left cricket fans stunned was the famous cricketer’s ugly behaviour, first kicking the stumps in anger before uprooting all of them to show his frustration at the umpire.

The first time Shakib kicked the stumps after the umpire turned down his LBW appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim. Little later in the match, he approached towards the umpire to uproot all three stumps since he was visibly upset with the umpire’s decision to briefly halt the match due to rains.

When the match resumed, Mohammedan Sporting Club led by Shakib, went on to win the encounter against Abahani Limited, but his ugly behaviour evoked strong reactions from cricket fans with many demanding a permanent ban on the Bangladeshi player.

Shakib later took to his Facebook to issue a public apology. He wrote, “Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately. I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all ❤️ SAH.”

Many failed to understand what may have triggered an experienced international player to resort to such violent acts since his team was in control of the match right from the beginning.
