Indian pacer Ishan Sharma bowled a brilliant spell against West Indies in the first Test at Antigua to restrict the hosts to 189-8 after the Indians were bowled out for 297. Sharma picked up 5-42 in 12 overs to give India glimmer of home in the ongoing Test match given that three days of the game is still left.
Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each. Roston Chase was the highest scorer for West Indies with 48 runs. Shimron Hetmyer who was out caught and bowled by Ishan Sharma made 35.

Friday’s play at Antigua also saw Jasprit Bumrah beat R Ashwin’s record of claiming 50 wickets in the Test cricket by bowling fewer deliveries. Bumrah achieved the feat in 2465 deliveries, while Ashwin had taken his first 50 wickets by bowling 2597 deliveries. Bumrah also broke the previous record of Venkatesh Prasad and Mohammad Shami’s record by taking just 12 Test matches to achieve claim his first 50 wickets. Both Prasad and Shami had taken 13 Test matches to claim their first 50 wickets.
Batting first, India had made 297 runs with Ajinkya Rahane scoring 81 runs while Ravindra Jadeja contributing with 58 runs.
