Police in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh have arrested the swimming instructor after he allegedly raped a three-year-old girl at a private school. 42-year-old Chandi Das was arrested after the girl’s parents filed a police complaint at Surajpur police station.

Manoj Pant, the SHO of Surajpur police station, said that Chandi Das allegedly raped the girl on Thursday evening while giving her swimming lessons at the school in Surajpur.

“After coming home, she complained of severe pain in the lower abdomen. Her parents took her to a private hospital where doctors confirmed sexual assault. Their report said her hymen was torn,” Pant added.

The girl later narrated her ordeal to the family members after which they lodged a case against the accused last night, he said, adding the accused was arrested, reported PTI.

The victim’s father said in his complaint, “Our daughter complained of severe body pain after arriving from school on Thursday afternoon. We took her to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital in Delhi for a medico-legal test. The test indicated an issue which she suffered on her body. We took her next day to the school where she pointed out to Chandi Das and started crying.”

“Other staff of the school also told us that the lifeguard had done some bad things to our daughter on Thursday,” reported Hindustan Times quoting the police complaint by the girl’s parents.

Pant said that upon being examined, the doctors had confirmed injury in the private part of the victim which clearly showed sexual assault. Das has now been booked under IPC section 376 (Rape) and 7/8 of the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The victim studies in nursery section in the same school, where the rape accused was employed as an instructor cum life-guard.

In its statement, the school said that the CCTV footage had not shown any evidence of rape by the accused. “On receiving a verbal complaint from them (the parents) about a purported sexual assault on the child by the life guard for swimming, a hired employee, the school administration swung into action, immediately coordinated with the local police and got the accused taken into police custody. After thoroughly studying the CCTV footage, there was no conclusive evidence that the swimming instructor has evidently performed any act as being accused. The girl child is in good health, as opposed to whatever is being reported in the media about her condition,” Indian Express quoted the school’s statement.
