Did Times Now just announce that CJI Dipak Misra = BJP?

English news channel Times Now on Monday posted a news flash on microblogging site Twitter about Congress IT Cell Chief Divya Spandana, popularly known as Ramya.

Times Now

Times Now’s tweet said, “Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s aide mounts a fresh attack on BJP.” The Times Now’s news flash also carried a screenshot of Divya’s tweet outlining the instances of cases, where Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra had ‘fixed’ benches.
Divya’s list included ‘Bribery in Prasad Educational Trust Medical College, Appointment of CBI Special Director, An Appeal in the 2G case, Death of Judge Loya, A case involving MP Shashi Tharoor, Assets of Jay Shah, Aadhaar cases, Appointment of BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra in ONGC, Appointment of judges and A case under the Land Acquisition Act.’

Going by the screenshot tweeted by Times Now, nowhere had the Congress social media chief attacked the BJP; but she had merely outlined the lists of cases where CJI Misra had come under the scanner for allegedly transferring sensitive political cases to favourable benches.

And yet the Times Now’s tweet concluded that Divya had attacked the BJP. So, did Times Now just conclude that the CJI Misra was a BJP man? Student activist Shehla Rashid asked if this a Fruedian Slip by Times Now, which has come under attack for being a pro-BJP channel particularly by the Congress party.

Rashid wrote, “Interesting! So, @divyaspandana attacks CJI. But @TimesNow reports that she has attacked BJP. So, is Times Now saying that CJI = BJP? Fruedian Slip!”

Times Now’s tweet came on the day Vice President Venkaiah Naidu rejected the impeachment motion signed by 64 Rajya Sabha MPs belonging to seven opposition parties against CJI Misra. Opposition parties had moved an impeachment motion against CJI Misra alleging serious corruption against him.

Divya too reacted to Rashid’s observation saying ‘They (Times Now) conceded too.’ There were many others who agreed that Times Now had accidentally revealed what the Congress and other opposition parties had been alleging for quite some time.
