Gang-rape of Haryana’s CBSE topper: Father says woman ‘SP’ threatened him, threw his complain copy away

The father of the CBSE topper in Haryana, gang-raped by at least 10 people, has spoken about his ordeal in getting the complaint filed against the tormentors of his daughter. He said that the attitude of the police officers including the ‘woman SP’ was very threatening when he approached them to lodge a complaint.

“They did not pay attention to my complaint. They kept intimidating me for at least 30-45 minutes. (They said)’No, you leave this place’,” the father told Mirror Now channel.

He said that he didn’t have a clue as to why he was being threatened by police officials adding that his poverty could have been a reason.

“First they shooed me away. That SP of the women’s police station said, ‘what are you doing?’ I said, ‘not a problem Ma’am.’ Sir, they did not pay heed to my requests for half hour. After that another woman police officer convinced the SP,” he added.

It’s not clear whether he was referring to the Rewari SP, Nazneen Bhasin, or mistook someone else as the Superintendent of Police.

The dejected father of the victim said that his daughter’s condition was critical on Friday, but on Saturday, doctors had detected some improvements. He said that one of the boys accused of raping his daughter was his student. “This is how he paid me back,” he said.

Meanwhile, the cops in Haryana on Saturday said that one of the rapists was an army soldier. Haryana police chief BS Sandhu said, “Pankaj Fauzi is one of the accused who is working in an army unit in Rajasthan. A police team has gone to Rajasthan to arrest him. I am sure that he will be arrested today.” Sandhu added that all the three men were teenager.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command said that his forces did not shelter criminals and if ‘an army personnel is involved in the crime we will ensure that the person is caught and booked for rape.’

The victim, a second-year student, was on her way to the coaching when she was attacked a group of men, who dragged her to a nearby field and took turns in raping her. All the rapists, according the girl, are from her village.
