A group of Hindutva terrorists on Wednesday made an extraordinary attempt to recreate the assassination of India’s father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. In the video, Hindu Mahasabha’s national secretary Puja Shakun Pandey is seen firing at the effigy of Gandhi. Soon after she along with her saffron-clad militants fire at the effigy, blood is seen oozing out of the effigy, spilling on to the ground.
In the video, now gone viral, Pandey is seen standing with her saffron-clad goons. She is seen holding a pistol. In the first attempt to fire at Gandhi’s effigy, she is seen asking her colleague, filming the scene, “Shall I fire?” The person filming then tells her, “Don’t fire, right now we are only doing a photo session.”
The disgusting development took place in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, which is governed by BJP’s Yogi Adityanath, who had infamously founded an armed militant group Hindu Yuva Vahini.
These Hindutva terrorists have for long eulogised Nathuram Godse, who had killed Gandhi on 30 January 1948, blaming him for the partition of India.
Hindu Mahasabha has always marked 30 January as Shaurya Divas or Martyr’s Day but this is the first time the Hindutva militant group members have gone to the extent of recreating the terrorist act of 1948.
Wednesday’s incident sent shockwaves on social media. Psephologist Yashwant Deshmukh tweeted, “Disgusting and sickening to the core. These moron should be arrested immediately and put in a mental asylum.” Journalist Sankarshan Thakur wrote, “The license that lunatic inheritors of the bigoted assassin of the Mahatma, #NathuramGodse have now got in #NewIndia Astonishing and alarming, this audacity,”
Astonishingly, the district administration of Aligarh, which reports to the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has not taken any punitive actions against the saffron terrorists. Neeraj Jadon, ASP Aligarh was quoted by news agency ANI, “Members of Hindu Mahasabha yesterday enacted Nathuram Godse’s assassination of MahatmaGandhi. They were glorifying Nathuram Godse. Case registered under relevant sections of IPC against 8 people & 4 unknown, arrests to be made soon. two people detained.”
