Sunday night saw the launch of a new comedy show on Colors TV at 10 PM slot in place of what had become an incredibly successful show with stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma as host.
The channel launched a repackaged show of what used to be known as Comedy Nights With Kapil in the same slot. The new show is now called Comedy Nights Live with Krushna as lead.
This came after Kapil parted ways with the channel over alleged differences last month.
The reason behind bringing KNWK to an end was Kapil’s displeasure with the channel.
Kapil, whose production house K9 Productions had been producing KNWK, was reportedly unhappy that the channel had sidelined his show at the cost of Comedy Nights Bachao, now broadcast every Saturday in the same slot with Krushna.
It was because of CNB that KNWK was converted into a once-a-week show. Sharma was also unhappy that the CNB was allowed to use the same format and same logo as that of the CNWK.
There are reports that CNWK will come back in new avatar and with new name on the rival channel Sony Entertainment soon.
So, how did the audience react to the new show CNL? If social media reaction is anything to go by, then the channel is likely to have tough time replicating the same success as it had done with CNWK.
The social media users particularly on twitter wasted no time in expressing its outrage and disappointment on the poor quality of the new show.
The dominating theme of the twitter conversation suggested that the new host no match to Kapil and the show miserably failed to make audience laugh.
Singer Mika Singh, who has now replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu too was trolled for posting a photo that had audience members showing their middle-fingers to the camera.
Twitter users slammed the show host and the channel for their arrogance for the way they made disparaging comments about Kapil and his show format.
Here are some of the tweets being posted on this subject:
