Amidst rumours of his return, actor-comedian Sunil Grover has confirmed that he was not planning to return to Kapil Sharma Show.
The actor was quoted by Midday.com, “It’s all a lie.” Dr Mushoor Gulati fame popular comedian also said that “at present, I am focusing on live shows and nothing else.”
“I am also not talking to any other channel…I am overwhelmed by the love I am getting from the audience. Performing live is exhilarating,” he added.
Meanwhile, fresh data revealed how Grover’s departure from the show had adversely impacted the popularity of Kapil Sharma Show. While the 18 March episode had clocked 57,000 views on YouTube and 4,000 dislikes, the viewership plummeted to 14,000 for 26 March episode and the dislikes increased to whopping 56,000.
On Tuesday, Grover had termed himself a better actor than Sharma. Speaking to Times of India, he had said, “When it comes to wit, Kapil is better. But I am a better actor.”
Sharma has had to face a massive revolt of sorts after he allegedly abused and physically assaulted Grover during a flight journey from Australia.
This had prompted Grover to quit the show forcing Sharma to issue a public apology.
Grover had later posted a gut-wrenching letter asking Sharma not to behave like God. Soon, he received support from other actors including Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar, both of whom refused to take part in Sony TV’s popular show.
There are reports that Sony is not keen to renew the Rs 107 crore contract with Sharma. Meanwhile, Colors is reportedly in conversation with Grover to launch a rival comedy show against Sharma.
Although, a section of media on Monday reported that Grover was back in the show, the latter’s social media post later appeared to contradict the story.
