Kangana Ranaut is notorious for playing feminism card according to her convenience whenever it helps her gain sympathy from public. The actress had received plenty of support from women rights groups during her public fight with Hrithik Roshan as she claimed to fly the flag for feminism.
However, her mysterious silence in the wake of brutalities being committed against girls across the country, particularly during the Kathua gang-rape and murder case, irked many of her erstwhile supporters, who detected a glaring hypocrisy in her.
The Queen actress is once again facing condemnation for her fake victim card in the garb of equally fake feminism. This was after she sensationally accused actor Sonu Sood of not willing to work under a woman director i.e. herself when the latter was asked to shoot his sequences for Manikarnika : The Queen of Jhansi all over again. Angry over being asked to re-shoot his scenes, Sonu had quit the film and begun filming Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar’s Simmba.
Reacting to the reports of Sonu quitting Manikarnika because of her unprofessional attitude, Kangana on Friday had issued a statement denying reports of any rift. She had said that even though Sonu was a dear friend, she had never met him adding that he quit the film because the re-shoot was being directed by herself.
Reacting to her allegations, Sonu shot back calling her fake feminism card ‘ridiculous.’ In a statement, Sonu said, “Kangana is a dear friend and she will always remain one but this constant playing the woman card , the victim card and making this entire issue about male chauvinism is ridiculous.
“The gender of the director is not the issue, competence is. Let’s not confuse the two. I’ve worked with Farah Khan who’s a competent woman director and Farah and I had a great professional equation and we are still best of friends. That’s all I would like to say.”
Sonu’s career in Bollywood has spanned over 19 years and he’s always stayed away from any controversy. He’s acted with the industry’s best including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar among others.
His ability to not mince words while holding up mirror to Kangana shows what Hrithik should have said when he was faced with serious allegations of extra-marital affairs. Although, many accused Kangana even then of playing a victim card by hiding behind feminism, Hrithik, in his chivalry did not say this in as many words.
