Controversial actor Kangana Ranaut is facing widespread condemnation after she was seen to be urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repeat the act of ‘early 2000’ in Bengal. Enraged netizens are demanding action against and boycott of the pro-BJP actor for allegedly calling for ‘genocide.’
This was after several BJP leaders complained of violence against their supporters in Bengal in the wake of the Hindutva party’s election defeat in the state. One of those biting the dust in the just-concluded elections was Swapan Dasgupta, who urged Home Minister Amit Shah to send paramilitary forces to protect BJP supporters. He tweeted, “Alarming situation in Nanoor (Birbhum district) with more than a thousand Hindu families out in the fields to escape marauding mobs seeking to take it out against BJP supporters. Reports of molestation or worse of women. @AmitShah please rush some security to the area.”
Sharing Dasgupta’s tweet, Kangana tweeted, “This is horrible… we need super gundai to kill gundai… she is like an unleashed monster, to tame her Modi ji please show your Virat roop from early 2000’s …. #PresidentRuleInBengal.”
It didn’t take long for netizens to conclude what she meant by the ‘virat roop (vast form) from early 2000 of Narendra Modi. Gujarat had witnessed one of the worst pogroms in 2002 during Modi’s term as the state’s chief minister. Several thousand people, mostly Muslims, had died. The incident had sent shockwaves across the world with many developed nations including the US and the UK imposing an entry ban on Modi to their countries.
No sooner did Kangana share the tweet allegedly calling for genocide in Bengal, netizens began to tag Twitter demanding action against her. Others urged Bollywood filmmakers to consider boycotting her in the future.
Kangana Ranaut should be ostracized from public life. This is a call for genocide. Bringing in 2002 which saw merciless butchering of innocent people, and to ask the sitting Prime Minister of India to replicate it in another state – how is this acceptable? Where’s the law? pic.twitter.com/duQnb3W7x7

Netflix was quick to against Kevin Spacey when allegations of sexual harassment came out by throwing him out from House of Cards. What are they going to do against Kangana, who is openly calling out for genocide? Will they remove her content?@NetflixIndia?

Last year, Kangana’s sister Rangoli had faced outrage after she called for the mass murder of Muslims. She had written on Twitter, “A Jamati died of Corona when police and doctors weent to check their families they were attacked and killed, secular media, make these mullas + secular media stand in a line and shoot them dead… f****k the history they may call us nazis who cares, life is more imp than fake image.
