The Pakistani cricket team has arrived in Gujarat ahead of their crucial World Cup match against arch-rivals India. The BCCI run by Jay Shah, the son of BJP leader Amit Shah, rolled out a red carpet to welcome the players from Pakistan as they were greeted by girls dancing to the tune of a popular Bollywood song.

The video, which has now gone viral on social media, did not go down well with Hindutva supporters, who slammed the BJP and Jay Shah for making ‘Hindu girls’ dance in front of players from Pakistan. Others also highlighted BJP top brass’ hypocrisy in vowing to boycott Pakistan but rolling out a red carpet welcome for a World Cup match.

User Gurudath Shetty Karkala tweeted, “Hindu girls were made to dance infront of Pakistani cricketers to welcome them in Ahmedabad. Imagine the hue & cry of Modiyas & IT Celliyas if it was done during UPA Period. But now they don’t dare to speakon this as BCCI Secretary is Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah !!”

Anotrher user, Punster, wrote sarcastically, “When the crowd in Hyderabad responded to the DJ’s sloganeering with “Pakistan jeetega”, IT Celliyas labelled the whole crowd ‘anti-national.’ Now Pakistan team is in Ahmedabad and BCCI has organized a grand welcome for them with girls dancing and showering them with flowers. Is BCCI also ‘anti-national’?”
