Congress leader accuses AAP’s Atishi of being Jew, courts controversy


Former Congress MLA in Delhi, Asif Khan, has stirred a huge controversy by urging Muslims in East Delhi parliamentary constituency to not vote for the AAP candidate Atishi claiming that she was a Jewish by faith. In a viral video, former Okhla MLA was heard saying that Muslims will never accept the leadership of Jew.

The comments by Khan evoked angry reactions from his political rivals and social media users. who detected a glaring anti-semitism in Khan’s controversial remarks. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted saying that Atishi was a Rajput and capable of fighting like Jhansi ki rani.

Atishi has recently been in news after she demanded the BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir’s disqualification since he allegedly held two voter ids. Responding to her allegations, Gambhir responded accusing Atishi of having no vision.

Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats and all seats will go to polls on 12 May. The counting will take place on 23 May.
