Twin bomb attack at Kabul airport kill at least 60 including many US marines

More than 60 people including several US marines are reported to have been died after twin bomb attacks struck the Kabul airport on Thursday. Around 140 others are reported to have been injured.

According to the BBC, explosions took place outside the Abbey Gate, where the US and British forces have been stationed.

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby took to Twitter to confirm that a number of US casualties in Thursday’s bomb attacks. In a state, Kirby said that ‘a number of US service members’ were killed and others hurt.



British Prime Minister Boris Johnson termed the bomb attacks ‘despicable’ but added that this would not affect his country’s operations in Afghanistan.

“It is not going to interrupt our progress, we are going to get on with this evacuation,” Johnson said after chairing an emergency meeting on the bombings. There were always going to vulnerabilities to terrorism and opportunistic terrorist attacks, we condemn them, I think they are,” Johnson said.

Both the US and the UK are currently busy their citizens and Afghan nationals from the country after the Taliban took control of power.
