New Zealand on Friday defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets even after skipper Kane Williamson was forced to retire hurt at 78.

Batting first, Bangladesh could only manage 245-9 in 50 overs with Mashfiqur Rahim being the top scorer for his side. He played a knock of 66.

Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he finished with a spell of 3-49. Matt Henry and Trent Boult shared two wickets each.

The Kiwis achieved the target by losing just two wickets with 7.4 overs to spare. Daryl Mitchell was the top scorer with an unbeaten knock of 89 while skipper Williamson had to retire hurt when he was batting at 78.
