Mujeeb Ur Rahman on Sunday wreaked havoc with his lethal spin bowling as Afghanistan humiliated England with the first huge upset in the ongoing cricket World Cup.

England are the defending champions in this format of the game and today’s defeat was the second for them after they lost to New Zealand in the first match of the World Cup.

England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss but chose to field. His decision proved costly as Afghanistan piled up a total of 284 all out.

In response, England could only manage 215 runs in 40.3 overs, losing the match by 69 runs. Harry Brook was the top scorer for his side with a knock of 66.

Mujeeb picked up three wickets for 51 as he dismissed Joe Root, Harry Brook and Chris Woakes. Rashid Khan too picked up three wickets, while Mohammad Nabi dismissed two English batters.
