Magnificent Muhammad Rizwan couldn’t care much about his injuries as he scored an unbeaten century to guide Pakistan to complete the biggest-ever run chase in the history of the cricket World Cup. The impressive batter remained not out at 131 as Pakistan chase Sri Lanka’s total of 344-9.

Batting first, Sri Lanka had piled up a total of 344-9 in 50 overs with two of their batters scoring centuries. Kusal Mendis made 122 from 77 balls, while Sadeera Samarawickrama hit 108 from 89 balls.

However, Pakistan chased the total by losing just four wickets with 10 balls to spare. Rizwan remained not out at 131 from 121 balls, while Abdullah Shafique made 113 from 103 balls.

Rizwan’s courageous knock assumed significance given that the batter suffered from cramps when he was in the 90s. At one point it looked certain that he may not be able to carry on, but he kept stealing singles and twos.

In another match, England bounced back from their defeat against New Zealand to beat Bangladesh by 137 runs.

England made 364-9 in their quota of 50 overs with Dawid Malan silencing his critics with a knock of 140 from 107 balls.

Joe Root made 82 while Jonny Bairstow contributed with 52.

Bangladesh were bowled out for just 227.
