Jofra Archer on Tuesday took to social media with an epic one-liner to a British tabloid after the latter carried a detailed report claiming that the England fast bowler would miss both the T20 World Cup and the Ashes due to injury.
The headline by Daily Mirror claimed, “Jofra Archer could miss entire summer with World T20 and Ashes also in jeopardy.”
In his subsequent tweet, the England pacer wrote, “Click bait at best.”

In its report, the Daily Mirror had claimed, “Jofra Archer could miss the rest of 2021 after a setback in his recovery from an elbow operation. The 26-year-old fast bowler will meet specialists in the next 48 hours after struggling to regain his fitness.”
Archer expressed his surprise over the claims made by Daily Mirror about his injury, but wrote hilariously, “it’s a nice picture tho.”
Archer’s witty response left cricket fans in splits while many slammed the website for cooking up a story about the fast bowler. One user wrote, “They only said “could” and it is the Mirror, 99% of stories are probably bunkum. I am not so bothered about T20 but please be fit for The Ashes :)”
One Indian Twitter user wrote, “All news media across the world is same. I thought it happens only in India.”
England are set to play five-match Test series starting 4 August. Archer is unlikely to England squad owing to injury.
