BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has launched another attack against the supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he heaped praises on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Declaring him a ‘Model CM’ for his ability to successfully check the spread of the pandemic, Swamy took a jibe at the supporters of PM Modi, often known as bhakts.
He tweeted, “Judging by Modi’s, and today Union Government Spokesperson’s praise for Mumbai’s tackling of Coronavirus menace, it seems UT has become a model CM. This is what I said first and then Andh& Gandh Bhakts howled like frightened jackals. Where are they now? Back to city sewer?”
This is not the first time Swamy has targeted Modi supporters by using unflattering adjectives for them. Not too long ago, the outspoken BJP parliamentarian had trended after he addressed Modi supporters as andhbhakts (blind disciples) and gandhbhakts (stinking disciples).

He had said, “When the Coronavirus Pandemic cases were running at 100,000 daily mid-April 2020 and fell to 10, 000 by November. who was given the credit by Andhbhakts and Gandhbahkts? Now have the cases risen again to 100, 000 again? Then who will now claim credit?”
The latest wave of the pandemic was first detected in Maharashtra but Thackeray has earned plaudits from even his detractors for the state government’s impressive handling of the crisis. The number of positive cases in Mumbai has been continuously falling sharply.
Even Amitabh Kant, the CEO of Niti Aayog (the Modi government’s planning commission), tweeted praising the Mumbai Model, “Centralized bed allotment, anticipating oxygen storage facilities, common allotment of beds even in pvt hospitals, dashboards for monitoring , war rooms for patient follow up. Inspirational Mumbai model of Covid Mngmnt . Congrats @mybmc Commissioner Chahal & his Gr8 team.”
There are reports of even the BJP government of Karnataka replicating the Mumbai Model to deal with the pandemic.
