In the video, a group of men, allegedly BJP workers, could be seen assaulting their rivals. The car with the Trinamool symbol too could be seen vandalised. Dev was reportedly travelling with members of I-PAC, Prashant Kishor’s poll strategy firm, when she was attacked.

Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee tweeted, “Under @BjpBiplab’s #DuareGundaRaj, attack on political opponents is setting new records! Physically manhandling a sitting female Rajya Sabha MP, @SushmitaDevAITC is BEYOND SHAMEFUL & POLITICAL TERRORISM by @BJP4Tripura goons! The time is near. People of Tripura will answer!”

Sharing the video of Dev’s vandalised car, the official Twitter handle of the Tripura unit of the Trinamool Congress wrote, “Once again
@BjpBiplab proves that he CANNOT bear the presence of @AITCofficial in Tripura! His GOONS have BRUTALLY attacked us on the very first day of our campaign. Why is @AmitShah silent? What about the safety and security of people in Tripura? Where is Democracy?”

Dev had recently quit Congress to join the Trinamool Congress. Days later, she was sent to the Rajya Sabha as an MP by her new party.
