India’s Bajrang Punia on Saturday won the bronze medal in the 65 kg freestyle wrestling match after he defeated Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan. The Indian wrestler defeated his opponent 80-0 as he secured the sixth medal for his country.
India has already won two silver and three bronze medals so far at Tokyo Olympics.
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, “Sheer class & domination on display by @BajrangPunia in #wrestling to win Third place medal for India! Congratulations on this much deserved victory & leaving us all stunned with your performance.”
Another former Indian cricketer, Venkatesh Prasad tweeted, “What a bout! Brilliant from #BajrangPunia and a well-deserved Bronze medal. Super Proud!”
