Maharashtra minister finds photo opportunity in drought-hit Latur

It seems the ministers in Maharashtra government have vowed not to learn from the past insensitivity shown by leaders to the ravaging drought in parts of the state.

On Friday, we reported how the revenue minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government had used 10,000 litres of water to wet his helipad in Latur as he visited the area, reeling under its worst ever water crisis.

On Sunday, another instance of utter insensitivity by another cabinet colleague of Fadnavis has come to light.

The photos of Munde clicking selfies with the hapless farmers have gone viral on social media platform.

Munde didn’t stop here. She took to twitter to flaunt her photos as if she was visiting a tourist destination and not a place affected by one of its worst human tragedies in recent times.

According to a report in Jansatta, Munde even complained of her make-up getting smudged due to soaring heat and humidity.

Such is the crisis that the veteran actor Nana Patekar on Friday broke down during an interview with NDTV. Moved by his his tears, social media went into a frenzy to lend help to Nana’s Naam Foundation on Saturday.

Elsewhere, actor Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 80 lakh to helps victims of the natural calamity in Maharashtra.

Actor Aamir Khan has been tirelessly working in the area with his team of Satyamev Jayate to solve the water crisis by teaching the villagers the technique to preserve water.
