Gandhi statue near liquor store removed by authorities

According to some media reports, authorities in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh removed a statue of Mahatma Gandhi after complaints were filed against a liquor store operating near the statue of the Father of the Nation.

The Neelima bar, which opened a little while ago after obtaining license from the state government, saw protests from people because of a statue of Mahatma Gandhi nearby. As a result, the authorities removed the statue and moved it to an undisclosed location.

The Guntur Gandhi association and Congress leaders of the area are upset with the action and have launched a protest against the same.
