Huge setback for BJP in bypolls across India, Hindutva party faces rout in Himachal Pradash

The BJP has suffered a huge setback in the just-concluded bypolls for assembly and one Lok Sabha seat as the Hindutva party failed to win a single seat even in Himachal Pradesh where it has its government.

The Congress had won all three seats namely Arki, Fatehpur and Jubbal-Kotkhai, where the BJP was not in contention as the Congress candidate Rohit Thakur defeated independent candidate Chetan Singh Bragta.

In West Bengal, the ruling Trinamool Congress had won all four seats namely Dinhata, Gosaba, Khardaha and Santipur. The BJP’s poll vote share in Bengal was just 17 percent while the Trinamool won a whopping 75 percent vote share.

In Bihar, the ruling JDU won both the seats even after trailing in one during the counting of votes. Both the Congress and the RJD had contested separately in the bypolls, giving the advantage to the JDU.

In Assam, another state where the BJP is in power, the Hindutva party won three seats while United People’s Party, Liberal won the remaining two.

In Madhya Pradesh, the ruling BJP won two seats, but the Congress emerged victorious on the third seat.

In Rajasthan, where the Congress has been in power, the ruling party won both the seats that went to polls. The Congress also won the lone assembly seat of Delgur (SC) in Maharashtra.

The BJP has also suffered a huge setback in the bypolls for the Lok Sabha. The Hindutva party was trailing behind the Shiv Sena in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman seat.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP also the Mandi Lok Sabha seat to Pratibha Singh of the Congress.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP candidate defeated his Congress rival to win the Khandwa parliamentary seat.
