CBI on Tuesday filed chargesheet against activist Teesta Setalvad for allegedly violating foreign funding rules.

The allegations of violation in foreign funding rules is in connection with her organisation. In an official complaint, the MHA had accused her of receiving funds from abroad without obtaining permission from the MHA.

Setalvad has actively raising voices against the Gujarat massacre, which saw the deaths of thousands of Muslims during Narendra Modi’s tenure as the chief minister in 2002.

In a major flip flop, the home ministry on 15 December, had cancelled renewal of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of two non-government organisations (NGOs) run by activist Teesta Setalvad, three months after “inadvertently” allowing their registration for five more years.
