The BJP was left red-faced on Wednesday after two of its senior lawmakers were engaged in full-blown fight inside the Bihar assembly. Full details of the ugly fight have emerged only now.
Photo: NDTVAccording to reports, Neeraj Babloo, who’s a BJP MLA, on Wednesday went to the building housing legislative council. The 46-year-old MLA then reportedly asked an MLC from his party, Lalbabu Prasad, to move aside and called him to an area which was not covered by the CCTV.
Soon he began to slap Prasad with full force while the MLC desperately tried to scurry for protection. He only stopped after other party functionaries intervened.
Babloo, according to sources inside the assembly building, was accusing Prasad of harassing his wife, Nutan Singh, who’s also an MLC, but from Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party.
Prasad desperately pleaded his innocence and denied reports of having harassed Nutan.
The incident has caused unending embarrassment to the saffron party. However, its rival parties have not wasted time in poking fun at them.
Bihar’s deputy chief minister, Tejashwi Yadav, asked media why it had stayed away from covering this development. He added that had the leaders involved in ugly fight been from non-BJP parties, the incident would have been a top topic of debate in national media.
