Union minister in Narendra Modi cabinet, Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said that people who were objecting to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s World Culture event were against ‘Hindu, India and Bharatiya.’

He said, “Anything that is Hindu, India, Bharatiya, you object… The prestige of the country is at stake. Nearly 35 world leaders are expected.”

Critics have slammed the central government for going out of the way to help a spiritual guru because of his assocoation with the BJP.

This is also the first time both the BJP and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party have joined hands in supporting the event organised by Ravi Shankar, who is a known supporter of the BJP and PM Modi.

Sri Sri is accused of damaging the biodiversity of Yamuna plains and hurting the interests of the farmer through his event.
