Actor Sonu Sood has broken his silence on the recent raids by the Income Tax authorities. The actor took to social media to issue a full statement saying that he did not need to tell his side of the story.

The actor, whose philanthropic activities during the nationwide lockdown earned him global plaudits, wrote, “Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going,”
He added, “I have been busy attending to a few guests hence was unable to be at your service for the last four days. Here I am back again in all humility. At your humble service, for life.”

Reacting to Sonu’s statement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “More power to u Sonu ji. U are a hero to millions of Indians.”
Sonu had found support from the Trinamool Congress and the Congress party after the Income Tax department raided at least six properties linked to him in Mumbai and Lucknow on Wednesday last week.
A report by news agency PTI had said that the visit of IT officials to the Bollywood actor’s properties was linked to a tax evasion probe. IT officials, who also visited Sonu’s residence, were reportedly probing a deal between the actor and a real estate company.
The Income Tax department had later issued a statement saying that they had found ‘incriminating evidence’ against the actor during the recent raids. “During the course of search at the premises of the actor and his associates, incriminating evidences pertaining to tax evasion have been found. The main modus operandi followed by the actor had been to route his unaccounted income in the form of bogus unsecured loans from many bogus entities,” the IT department had said in a statement.
