RJD leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, has lashed out at Aaj Tak for using a cheesy song from a popular Shilpa Shetty film Shool for its recent programme on the grand alliance in Uttar Pradesh. Tejashwi lost his cool after Aaj Tak anchor Anjana Om Kashyap plugged her programme on the news of anti-BJP grand alliance in Bihar using her Twitter handle.
Kashyap in her tweet had posted a photo that promoted her evening programme, titled as Saath Aaye Hain UP-Bihar Lootney (Have come together to loot UP and Bihar).”
Taking objection to the channel’s conclusion that the purpose of the alliance was seemingly to loot Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Tejashwi wrote, “I can understand the restlessness (of Aaj Tak). They’ve chanted Modi’s name so much that the idea of his ouster has them worried. Such is the fear that instead of using ‘to win,’ they’ve written ‘to loot.’ Anyway, for such people, Modi trying to bail himself out in the poll battle by relying on 40 alliance partners is the real masterstroke.”
pic.twitter.com/78C7HXt6Xf

Kashyap replied, clarifying that the decision to arrive at the name for the show was taken after a prolonged deliberations in the channel’s editorial meet. She wrote, “We deliberated a lot on this name in the editorial meet. By looting, the song intended to win over the heart and kingdom. Tejashwi Yadav, people interpret according to their own feelings. Please come out of the mentality of media’s biases.”
https://t.co/k5tI35KLUV

However, far from being convinced by Kashyap’s clarification, Tejashwi launched another attack at her and her channel Aaj Tak. His subsequent tweet read, “Hope in your editorial meet, you didn’t discuss that you needed to address your panelist as prabhu (God). As for media’s biases, even people sitting in far flung villages can say who are the representatives of the government in the Indian media today. We have no problem in people having their biases.”
https://t.co/H4yvEr7nDT

The controversial programme by Aaj Tak was conceived in the wake of the grand alliance deal being announced between the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh. According to the deal, while the SP and the BSP will contest on 38 seats each in this year’s Lok Sabha polls, the two seats were given to the RLD. The alliance parnters also announced that they will not field any candidates in two traditional Congress seats, namely Amethi and Raebareli.

Tejashwi too had met BSP chief Mayawato days after the alliance deal was announced in Lucknow. After his meeting with Mayawati, Tejashwi had predicted a whitewash for the BJP in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in this year’s parliamentary polls.
