Reacting to the praise from Tendulkar, Kohli said, “To equal my hero’s record is something special for me. He is perfection when it comes to batting. It’s a very emotional moment for me. I know where I come from, I know the days when I watched him on TV. Just to get an appreciation from him means a lot to me.”

Tendulkar had scored 49 ODI centuries in 452 innings, while it took Kohli just 277 innings to achieve this feat. Many are already predicting Kohli to become the all-time great, eclipsing Tendulkar’s records in all formats of the game.

Social media too erupted after Kohli played another century knock, this time at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium.
