On ‘The Kapil Sharma Show,’ Priyanka Chopra reveals what Shloka Mehta’s mother-in-law Nita Ambani and family gave her as wedding gifts

Comedian Kapil Sharma welcomed actress Priyanka Chopra on his chat show on Saturday night. This was the first time the Quantico actress was making an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show. The show caused laughter riots as Priyanka took frequent potshots at Kapil. At one point, Kapil too kept pulling Priyanka’s leg and asked what Shloka Mehta’s mother-in-law Nita Ambani and her family had gifted her when India’s richest family attended her wedding.

Kapil asked, “Priyanka, many rich personalities had come to your wedding. I saw Ambanis and many other big businessmen. I was curious to know how much money these rich people gave you in their envelopes?”

Priyanka replied, “I only had around 180 guests in my wedding. Not many people were there. 120 of them were family members. I didn’t even get half of the envelopes. I received plenty of blessings and that’s what I needed the most.”

Kapil said, “I thought since they are super-rich, they might have their personal notes of Rs 25,000 or so and don’t carry Rs 2,000 notes.”

Priyanka’s wedding had taken place just before Nita Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani got married to Anand Piramal. Weeks later, the Ambanis welcomed Shloka Mehta as their daughter-in-law in their family after she got married to Akash Ambani in March this year. Amongst those who had attended Priyanka’s wedding were Mukesh and Nita Ambani, their to-be daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant, son Ananth Ambani and daughter Isha. Shloka and Akash had given the wedding a miss.

Priyanka had shared the videos and photos of the function showing the Ambanis enjoying the party.

It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love.  Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together. Not many would know that Isha Ambani was also one of Priyanka’s bridesmaids. Priyanka, who enjoys a good camaraderie with the Ambanis, had also attended Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s engagement party in Lake Como in September last year with husband Nick Jonas.

On Saturday night, Kapil Sharma complained why Priyanka had not attended his wedding, which also took place in December last year. To which, Priyanka replied that she too was disappointed that the famous comedian had skipped her wedding function even though she had sent a personal invitation to him. In his inimitable style, Kapil said that he skipped her wedding because the comedian wanted to arrive in her wedding as a groom and not a guest.
